A HOPE CHEST SERVES NOBLE COUNTY RESIDENTS WHO CANNOT OTHERWISE AFFORD NEEDED FURNITURE.

 

A Hope Chest, formerly known as Furnishings of Faith, began several years ago and has come and gone over time due to space limitations and the ability to manage incoming and outgoing furniture needs.  With the purchase of the current Kendallville Common Grace Ministries, Inc. campus on Dowling Street, A Hope Chest found a permanent home.  Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, A Hope Chest received needed minor structural repairs to protect the furniture donated by giving members of our community.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?

Bring proof of address.

*Lease agreement   *Utility bill in the name of the person living in the home                                                    *Piece of mail addressed to you with the last 4 weeks   

WE DO NOT ACCEPT CHECK STUBS, RENT RECEIPTS OR PHOTO ID AS PROOF OF ADDRESS

Bring a current photo ID for all adults 18 and older.

For children under the age of 18, you must provide one of the following:  

*Birth Certificate  *Social Security Card  *Passport   *Legal Documents   *Medicaid card with the individual's name

*School Social Worker letter stating the child is in the household

Sign a waiver of liability.

Bring exact cash for your furniture and delivery choices.

Furniture will only be held for one week after choices are made.

 

WHAT ARE THE FEES?

Furniture Processing fee is $5-$10 per piece of furniture.

Delivery fees are $10 if you live EAST of State Road 9 and $20 if you live WEST of State Road 9.

REMEMBER:  YOU MUST HAVE EXACT AMOUNT OF CASH.  No checks, debit cards or credit cards will be accepted.

 

WHERE DO I GO? 

Those seeking furniture must come to the Kendallville Common Grace office at 2004 E. Dowling Street during Common Grace hours:

Monday and Thursday:  8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Tuesday:  8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Friday:  8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

 

WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW?

Households may not receive both a bed and a couch as there are many in Noble County in need of appropriate sleeping arrangements.  

Furniture is available only to permanent residences.  We do not provide furniture for those living at Maplecrest, hotels or other short-term living arrangements.

Delivery is available ONLY IF the recipient has no other way to pick up their items.  The recipient is responsible for providing people to unload the furniture at the destination.

 

 

CONDITIONS THAT MAY RESULT IN NO LONGER RECEIVING SERVICES FROM A HOPE CHEST OR ANY MINISTRY OF COMMON GRACE MINISTRIES:

1.  BEING DISHONEST ON THE APPLICATION OR AT ANY TIME DURING YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH ANY MINISTRY OF COMMON GRACE MINISTRIES

2.  BEING DISRESPECTFUL TO STAFF, VOLUNTEERS OR OTHER NEIGHBORS
